Intimidated by layering jewelry? Don’t worry—we’ll cover easy formulas for mixing necklaces, rings, and bracelets so you can master the layered look without the fuss.
Layering jewelry can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be! Whether you’re mixing necklaces, rings, or bracelets, a few easy styling formulas can take the guesswork out and the style up. At Izzy May Boutique, we’re here to help you master the layered look without the fuss.
Let’s break it down:
⸻
1. Start with a Base Piece
Choose one solid, go-with-anything piece like a simple chain necklace, a plain bangle, or a delicate ring. This creates a clean foundation to build on.
⸻
2. Vary Lengths and Sizes
For necklaces:
• Short (choker or collar)
• Mid-length (pendant)
• Long (lariat or drop)
This creates visual flow and prevents tangling. With rings and bracelets, mix chunky with dainty, wide with slim.
⸻
3. Stick to a Color Story
Layering looks best when the pieces share a theme. Try sticking to warm tones (gold, amber, rust) or cool tones (silver, blues, greys) for harmony. Or use one colorful piece to tie everything together.
⸻
4. Mix Textures and Materials
Pair metal with clay, resin with beads, or matte with shiny finishes. Mixing materials gives your layers dimension and an effortlessly curated vibe.
⸻
5. Let One Piece Pop
Your layers should work together, but let one item be the standout—like a bold clay charm or a unique handmade ring from our collection.
💡 Pro tip: Odd numbers (3 rings, 5 bracelets, 3 necklaces) tend to look more natural than even ones.
⸻
✨ Final Thoughts
Layering is about expressing your unique style—not following strict rules. Start simple, experiment with combinations, and have fun building your signature stacked look.

Just as a reminder It’s very uncommon to make exact same handmade pieces, there is always something different from the other. So, if something is already sold more than likely even if I try it may not be in stock again. All earrings in pictures may not look like the ones you receive as they are all unique. Pattern and textured designs will not be exactly as the other as they are cut in a handmade slab but will resemble each other.
Thank you, and Happy Shopping 😍
I do Donate a portion of sales to BACA Bikers Against Child Abase. This organization has helped me and my child to overcome a very hard time in our life. The Lord himself has given me this ability to create and put these hands to work so that if I could help to keep children from living in fear then I’m not holding back that passion. For as long as I’m able I will continue to make that dream true for me, my Child, and for so many others. So you can know that your contribution goes to an Awesome and Amazing Cause.
